Momos originated from Tibet/Nepal, now pan-India favorite. Thin wheat wrappers stuffed with veg or spiced meat filling, steamed to perfection. Served with spicy tomato-garlic chutney. Perfect tea-time snack or starter!
Traditional recipe
1.5 cups flour, ½ cup water, pinch salt. Knead soft dough.
Cabbage, carrot, onion, garlic-ginger, soy sauce, pepper, coriander leaves (chicken option too)
Tomatoes, dried chilies, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, vinegar
45-minute restaurant-style momos
Mix flour+salt, add water gradually to make soft pliable dough. Cover & rest 30 mins. Divide to 24 balls.
Sauté garlic-ginger-onion. Add chopped veg/chicken, soy sauce, spices. Cook till moisture dries. Cool completely.
Roll dough balls to 3" thin circles. Place 1 tsp filling center. Pleat edges & pinch to seal in crescent shape.
Oil steamer plate. Steam momos 10-12 mins till shiny/translucent. Serve hot with spicy tomato chutney!
