Sripur (Sirpur) was ancient capital of Dakshina Kosala kingdom (5th-8th century CE) in present Chhattisgarh. Excavated site with 200+ monuments - Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries (viharas), stupas, sculptures. Famous for Laxman Temple (7th CE, oldest brick temple surviving in India), Anand Prabhu Kuti Vihar. Located 78km from Raipur on Mahanadi banks.

🛕 Laxman Temple


7th century brick temple dedicated to Lakshmana. Oldest surviving brick temple in India. Panchayatana style with 4 subsidiary shrines. Excellent Vaishnava sculptures.

🛕 Anand Prabhu Kuti Vihar


Major Buddhist monastery with central stupa. Life-size Buddha statue fragments, intricate carvings. Flourished 7th-8th century under Panduvamshi kings.

🏛️ Archaeological Museum


Houses 1000+ sculptures from excavations - Vishnu, Shiva, Buddha images, inscriptions. Includes rare 7th century copper plates.
